Embeds are a nice way to share content from other platforms like YouTube or Flickr. Often, previews and thumbnail images are directly loaded directly from those platforms. When this happens, your browser sends a request which lets the platform know that you accessed the file.

I wanted to prevent that. If you use an embed block and e.g. set the URL to a YouTube video, paperboat.website will download a preview for you. This is cool because it doesn't only protect you but also your visitors: Whenever someone visits your post or page with an embed, the browser will only make a request to paperboat.website. No leaks of any personal data.
