A webring is a collection of websites linked together in a ring. Visitors can browse from site to site using the navigation bar at the top of the page.

When you enter a webring by clicking a link with ?ring= in the URL, the paperboat bar shows you the webring name and prev/next buttons. You can click through to other member sites or click the ring name to see an overview of the whole ring. Clicking "Exit webring" removes the ring from your navigation.

You can follow a webring to see posts from its member sites on your panel feed. Go to any webring page and click Follow.

Joining a webring

If the webring allows join requests, you'll see a "Request to Join" button on its page. The ring admin can approve or deny it. You can also receive an invite directly from a ring admin. Pending invites show up on your My Sites page.

To receive invitations to webrings, enable invites in your site's settings.

Creating a webring

Go to My Sites and click "Create a Webring". Give it a name, decide whether it's public or private, and whether to allow others to request joining. You can invite any site by visiting it while logged in and clicking "Invite to webring" in the bar.

A moderated webring requires you to approve posts from member sites before they appear in the ring feed. An unmoderated webring shows all posts automatically.

Visibility

Public moderated webrings are visible to everyone including logged-out visitors. Public unmoderated webrings require a login. Private webrings are only visible to members and ring admins.
